HAuNTcon 2014 Update!

Greetings Fellow Haunters,

While we can nownot announce the location for HAuNTcon 2014 just yet, (look for an announcement this week) we can let you in on a few changes that that will take place for next year’s show. HAuNTcon tries to stay on the cutting edge of what our attendees want to see in the perfect Haunter Show, and many of you responded to our questionnaire about how we could make HAuNTcon even better than it was this year in Dallas! (If you weren’t there, you missed a GREAT show! But we can do even better!) After pouring over the suggestions and the compliments on what a great show HAuNTcon already is, we took several of the points to heart and made definitive changes accordingly.
The biggest change you will notice about HAuNTcon 2014 is that the dates of the show are different. To work with the new venue, everything will be pushed forward one day, except the Costume Ball which will remain Saturday night and for now the hearse Rally and HAuNTcon Garage Sale will continue to be on Sunday. The Tradeshow and haunter education will start on Saturday morning and run through Monday afternoon. The All Day Workshops move to Tuesday. The pre-show haunt tour will be Thursday and Friday, with spotlight haunt tours on Friday night, Sunday night and Monday night.

The surveys reinforced our belief that it is the education that drives attendees to HAuNTcon. With over 50 hours of business seminars, creative sessions, demonstrations and hands on workshops, our education is without equal, and all for the price of admission to the conference. That will NOT change! In fact we are stepping up our game. HAuNTcon has brought the level of knowledge of the industry up to a point that our attendees are asking for more. In 2014, “more” will materialize as more advanced classes, by more accomplished speakers – some even outside the industry – bringing cutting edge information to our attendees. And the 2014 education program will be finalized and posted by mid November to give attendees plenty of time to make plans to attended the show.

A few respondents did remark in the survey that they wished the HAuNTcon tradeshow was bigger, and that more of the larger industry suppliers would attend the show. We agree, and with the announcement this week, you will see that we have taken drastic measures to make that happen. In 2014, for the first time, HAuNTcon will be in an actual convention center, detached from the host hotel. Free shuttles will run between the hotel and show during the conference hours and for the Costume Ball that will also be at the convention center.

You spoke and we listened. HAuNTcon is strengthening its already unequaled education and announcing it earlier. We are tripling our tradeshow size and increasing the caliber of our exhibitors. These are bold moves on our part, a gamble if you will to take HAuNTcon to new heights and to shake up the industry like it did when the show was announced in 2004. I know that all of you will support us in this grand initiative. I look forward to seeing all of you at HAuNTcon 2014 in the beautiful city of …. (you thought I was gonna spill it, didn’t you. We will announce this week, promise! :)

About HAuNTcon

HAuNTcon features movie & TV industry celebrities for presentations and personal appearances.  In the past we’ve hosted makeup professionals such as Brian & Nick Wolfe, Cleve Hall, and Tom Devlin.  Actors from iconic horror movies such as Gunnar Hansen (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) have graced our celebrity ensemble.

If can’t get enough scares in October, try our Pre-Show overnight bus trip that includes lights on and lights off tours of local haunted events. This tour is followed by the full action tours on Friday and Sunday evenings.

The Trade Show floor, Friday through Sunday, is filled with the latest in fright services and equipment, for the professional Haunted House owner and the Halloween enthusiast alike. From horror makeup and highly detailed masks to static props and large animatronic creatures, everything a Haunter needs will be for sale, often at wholesale prices.  Stay four out Haunted Garage sale, where local haunted houses and manufacturers sell and trade anything everything haunted at this flea market/swap meet.  The sale is a great place to find killer deals.

The conference wraps up with advanced education on the Monday, following the trade show, with day-long hands-on workshops, covering everything from attraction design to creating realistic scenes of terror at your event!
