When people talk about the best haunted houses in the country, Netherworld in Atlanta, GA, 13th Gate in Baton Rouge and House of Shock in New Orleans, LA, always come up in the discussion, but why? They all have great costuming, actors and make up, but what really makes these events the most talked about haunts in the industry is that each of these events attractions have amazingly realistic sets and high detail, distressed and dilapidated walls, movie quality sets and set dressing. Many haunters think that set dressing and high detail is expensive, but in this all day advanced workshop, Shayne Torrans and the  team from Haunt Force and Brutal Rust will show you how to create an amazing highly detailed movie quality set on a budget.

Starting from scratch, attendees will help build the walls, and create sets of a rusted pipe filled boiler room. This session will cover set wall construction, base and faux painting, distressing and set dressing, all using low cost, light weight wood, foam, plastic and sheetrock. Once learned, the techniques demonstrated in this hands on workshop can be used in a variety of ways thought your entire attraction to take your  haunted house to the next level of realism and detail. At the end of the day, the boiler room set will be auctioned off to the attendees. Haunt Force is the brain child of Shayne Torrans creator of Brutal Rust, Kingwood Asylum and Hallowed Grounds. Part Engineer and part madman, Shayne Torrans is the problem solver and prop builder for Haunt Force. Charged with constructing and simplifying everyone’s off the wall ideas, Shayne has created one masterpiece after the next. This is chiefly due to Shayne’s ability to deconstruct problems and come up with solutions that not only solve the problem but also are more cost effective and efficient than what the industry expects.Shayne Torrans is a certified train the trainer in more than 40 industrial subjects with over 22 years of experience. About HAuNTcon

An acronym for the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Conference, HAuNTcon is a celebration of people who love Haunted Houses and Halloween. It is three days and nights jam-packed full of Networking, Tours of area Haunted Attractions, educational seminars, make-n-takes teaching the latest is Haunting techniques and a tradeshow exhibiting the latest in Haunting props and equipment.

Started in April of 2004 in Charlotte, North Carolina, HAuNTcon moved to Dallas, Texas in 2005, Denver, Colorado in 2006, Dearborn, Michigan in 2007, Houston Texas in 2008, Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2009 and Orlando Florida in 2010 and is scheduled to be in Louisville, Kentucky in 2011, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2012, Dallas, Texas in 2013, Houston, Texas in 2014 and Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2015.

Offerings include an over-night pre-show bus tour of state wide Haunted attractions, tours of local Haunted attractions, tradeshow floor, costume ball, haunted garage sale, hearse rally and Haunter education including workshops, make-up and product demonstrations, and prop how-to make-n-takes.

HAuNTcon is open to the general public and all ages are welcome to attend. If you operate a Haunted House or would like to, If you act at a Halloween Event or would like to, if you Haunt your Home, or if you are just a fan of Haunted Houses and Halloween, then HAuNTcon is a "not to be missed" weekend of Haunting fellowship, Haunt tours and just plain fun!

An entry fee is required for each activity.
