Two Day Pre-show Tour

The 2014 HAuNTcon Pre-show Tour, January 23-24, 2014, sponsored by is shaping up to the the best tour in recent memory. After scouring the Texas Countryside looking for attractions to tour, we have made arrangements with the best and most unusual Houston Haunts available and packed them into two days of both actor filled lights off and back stage lights-on tours for your fright-tainment.

The 2014 HAuNTcon Pre-Show Haunt tour is a two day bus tour of the best attractions the Houston Market has to offer. The buses will be leaving at 10:30AM Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th, returning to the hotel each night. Tour price includes transportation, admissions and meals.

Attractions on the 2014 Tour

Compact year round haunted attraction designed and installed by Leonard Pickel to be a one actor operation. This haunt is a prime example of Leonard’s high startle low gore solution to a budget minded experience. Tours will be both full actor and lights on.

A large single element attraction is built in the parking garage of the Kema Boardwalk. The 20 room attraction prides itself on cutting edge scares and effects. On this tour we will be given full backstage and lights on access.

Operating since 1986, this multi- element mega haunt boated 8 different attraction in its prime. Phobia is relocating this spring due to highway expansion and 4 of the attractions have already been dismantled, but the Phobia crew had held off the demo so HAuNTcon attendees can experience Houston’s annual favorite. Both full actor and lights off backstage looks at Darke Institute-Psychiatrics, Mind Control Asylum, ClaustroPhobia and Dawn of the Machine are included on the tour.

You can compete and compare your scores with other pre show attendees at the Zombie Apocalypse Houston, Zombie-themed Laser Tag, with live zombies! One of the most haunted cities in America Galveston Texas is known for its Victorian architecture and as the one time home of pirate/profiteer Jean Laffite. While we are in the area, attendees can check out some of the haunted and historical sites.

Built of stone and steel for the railroad magnate Walter Gresham and his family, this famous house was designed by Nicholas Clayton, Galveston’s premier Victorian-era architect. The Bishop’s Palace is recognized as one of America’s finest examples of Victorian exuberance and Gilded-Age extravagance.

A sister attraction to Mayfield Manor, Pirates was also designed, researched and installed by your host, Leonard Pickel who blended his love for history and attraction design into this highly detailed attraction, (if you ever need to plank and rig a ship, now you know who to call). Pirates tell the life and times of Jean Laffite while educating visitors of the life in the 17th century.

A favorite Houston “haunt” this museum houses the country’s largest collection of funeral service artifacts, unique caskets, antique coffins and more styles of hearse than you have ever seen before.
