HAuNTcon Set to Take Over New Orleans Next Week

Lineup includes largest vendor floor to date, live ossuary build, advanced education and events taking place on exhibit hall floor

(Trumbull, CT, January 4, 2018) – On track to have one of the largest shows to date, HAuNTcon: the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow & Convention, will have several new and expanded features for 2018 including the largest vendor floor to date, daily hands-on workshops, new education panels and advanced sessions and exciting new show features. The event provides haunted attraction professionals a comprehensive experience to find unique products, learn new trends from some of the best minds in the industry and connect with fellow haunters. The show opens next week, January 12-15 in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The HAuNTcon exhibit hall has expanded this year and will offer attendees the first chance to see the new product releases in lighting, props, décor, makeup and much more for 2018. The list of exhibitors features more than 60 companies including Demented Design Studio, Gantom Lighting, HauntPay, Froggy’s Fog, Bad Jack Products, Hot Wire Foam, Groupon, AEO Studios, and Scared of My Shadow. In addition, all haunters will have access to the Halloween & Party Expo show floor and nearly 60 additional companies who have identified themselves as having “retail friendly” pricing – doubling the sourcing opportunities. Commented Mike Carlucci, senior vice president of HAuNTcon, “Being the first event of the year, we are excited to provide an opportunity for owners and operators to get a jumpstart on their planning for the 2018 season as well as a community where haunters and vendors are able to connect. Across both show floors, we welcome over 70 new exhibitors who have made the business decision to join us for the first time and encourage all attendees to visit their booths and experience their products and services.”

The HAuNTcon 2018 show floor will also be home to a new feature – a live Crypt Creation. From raw plywood to detailed painting, the team from Davis Graveyard will create a life sized ossuary right on the show floor, and attendees are invited join in on fun! Roll up your sleeves and learn foam carving, painting and distressing techniques. Once completed the ossuary will be auctioned off, with all proceeds benefiting Magic Wheelchair. A nonprofit organization, Magic Wheelchair’s vision a to put a smile on the face of every child in a wheelchair by transforming their wheelchair into an epic costume.  “We are so thrilled to be able to work closely with the Magic Wheelchair organization and support their mission,” commented HAuNTcon founder Leonard Pickel. “As haunters, we know that Halloween is all about community, and Magic Wheelchair helps us make Haunting an all-inclusive community.” The Crypt Creation and auction would not be possible without the support of our sponsors Davis Graveyard, Gantom Lighting & Controls, Magic Wheelchair, Hot Wire Foam, and Skeleton Store. Please support these fine companies.

For haunters interested in furthering their hand-on learning, several workshops will take place during the course of the show presented by experts from Davis Graveyard, Insanitarium Haunted Attraction, Divine Dementia, Hot Wire Foam, and Raven’s Cross Haunted Village. Participants will create tombstones, prosthetic cuts and scars, use EVA foam for costume and mask creation and much more. All workshops are available to purchase through www.hauntcon.com.

These hands-on workshops join 70+ additional hours of learning as part of the HAuNTcon education program. Newly added to the lineup include daily afternoon roundtable discussions taking place on the show floor allowing haunters to come together to discuss marketing and media tactics. A new panel discussion has also been announced to take place on Saturday, January 13th at 3:00pm – “The Halloween Ecosystem: First Impressions in the Consumer Experience.” This exclusive and incredibly unique panel brings together experts from all different points in the Halloween ecosystem to discuss First Impression Best Practices.
