What is HAuNTcon?

HAuNTcon is an acronym for the Haunted Attraction National Tradeshow and Conference, an expo and convention “Designed by Haunters, for Haunters” of every age and level of experience. HAuNTcon brings people who love Haunted Houses, Halloween and scaring people together for a fun-filled four days and nights Haunt Tours, Education, Tradeshow and Networking, rounded out by a Haunted Garage Sale and the amazing annual Costume Ball.

HAuNTcon also moves to a new city every year to provide off season tours of area haunted houses for attendees. Haunt tours allow haunt owners, home haunters, haunt actors and Halloween enthusiasts an off-season look at local pro-haunts both in full operation and lights on backstage.

Over 40 hours of Haunt education is included in the 3 day trade show admission. Creative Sessions, Business Seminars, Hands-on Workshops, Make Up and Product Demonstrations all designed to provide information and teach attendees techniques to do what they do better, faster and easier. Topics range from Haunted House Marketing and Business Plans, through Cheap Scares and Haunted House Design, Actor Training and Character Development, Prop building and Set Design.

Whether you are a haunt owner looking for ways to make more money, a haunt actor looking for scaring tips or a makeup artist or prop maker ready to go to the next level or a home haunter looking for new inexpensive haunting techniques, or a haunt designer looking for new fright ideas, HAuNTcon is a jam packed, not to be missed, economical Haunt conference that is the best investment you can make in your haunting future. If you have a Halloween event, Haunted House or Home Haunt, or if you have a dream of someday opening a Halloween event, Haunted Attraction or yard Haunt then join others like you for more off season Halloween Fun than is allowed by law at the Haunted Attraction Tradeshow and Conference, we call HAuNTcon.

by Leonard Pickel, Hauntrepreneurs(R) Themed Attraction Design and Consulting www.hauntrepreneurs.com

Description – Halloween has become a phenomenon in the United States and around the world, and every year more and more people are opening “darkly themed” Halloween Attractions. Even in the present economic downturn some haunted events are breaking attendance records, while other attractions are going out of business.

HAuNTcon SeminarsThis comprehensive and detailed step by step “how-to” session features the “do’s and don’ts” on getting an attraction open, keeping it open and making enough money to survive for both a for-profit dark attraction and charity Halloween Event, but even a well-established event will learn from Leonard’s 35 years of professional design and consulting experience.

From choosing the attraction name and URL for the event though pricing and dates of operation, topics covered include, creating a business plan, location requirements, safety code compliance, attraction style, attraction design, multi-element approach, timed ticketing, advertising, operations and answers to the most frequently asked questions: “How big should the attraction be, how much should I charge, and how much will it cost?”
In this all day session, attendees will explore the reasons why some attractions prosper while others fail. “A Haunted Attraction is a business and as in any other business, what you don’t know about this specialized field can put you out of business before you get started,” explains haunt industry veteran Leonard Pickel who will share with attendees how to maximize profits while minimizing costs and effort while describing what he sees as the best model for creating a successful Halloween Event.
