Spooky Kids Child Care Program

HAuNTcon is fun for the WHOLE family and to make it easier for parents to bring the next generation of Haunters with them to the convention, we created the Spooky Kids Child Care Program! Now parents who were wondering what to do with the kids all weekend can bring them along! This organized, supervised program of children’s movies, games, arts and crafts are provided at the Host Hotel during the convention.

Experienced, professional sitters will be on hand to supervise children up to 12 years old so that their parents can walk the tradeshow floor, attend seminars and/or participate in the evening events while their little spooks participate in creative networking of their own.

A nominal fee is required, but save money by registering your child today!

The Spooky Kids Program! is divided into time blocks as follows:

Block #1 - Thursday night – 6:30 p.m. till Midnight

Block #2 - Friday – 8:30 a.m. till 5:30 p.m.

Block #3 - Friday Night – 6:30 p.m. till Midnight

Block #4 - Saturday – 8:30 a.m. till 5:30 p.m.

Block #5 - Saturday Night – 7:30 p.m. till 1:00 a.m.

Block #6 - Sunday – 9:00 a.m. till 3:00 p.m.

Drop offs and pick-up times are as listed, please be prompt. Additional sitting times and overnights are available but only by advanced reservation.

Pre Show Discount Fees for the Spooky Kids program

(Prices are higher for reservations made AFTER April 15th 2010)

Nighttime Blocks - #1, #3 & #5 – $15

Daytime Blocks - #2, #4 & #6 – $30

Snacks will be offered during the sessions, but NO meals are included in the block price. Parents are responsible for picking up their children for all meals or for providing a “brown bag” at drop off.

Director of the Spooky Kids program is certified professional nanny Kristina Cook. Kristina designed this program with age appropriate movies, and activities and is wonderful with kids! She does this for a living and she is the best! Don’t be surprised if your spooky kids insist on more sessions than you had originally planned. Hello HAuNTcon Families!

My name is Kristina Cook and I am in charge of the HAuNTcon Spooky Kids Program! This is the 6th year Jeanne and Leonard Pickel have asked me to head up the program, but I wanted to let the rest of you know a little bit about me before you decide whether or not to drop off your Spooky Kids!

I am a 31 year-old professional nanny, from Charlotte, North Carolina. I have known Leonard and Jeanne for 8 years and been working with children professionally for 13 years; first as a pre-school teacher, as a full time nanny for 7 years and now own and operate my own childcare facility.

The Spooky Kids program is more than just a childcare program. It is designed to keep children entertained while you enjoy the many avenues of HAuNTcon. Several hands on activities, including art, snacks, games, and movies are planned to keep the kids entertained and active.

The pre-show pricing for the Spooky Kids Program ENDS on Monday April 15, 2009 and we highly encourage you to sign up before that date, both to save money and to make sure that we offer the sessions you are interested in.

Note: Some blocks may be canceled if there is no interest for that time slot from attendees. This buffer also gives me time to organize the activities by the ages that sign up.

The Spooky Kids Program is not a baby sitting service nor is a place to drop off an unruly child! Drop-ins will not be accepted, so please plan ahead so your child can enjoy in the activities.

Some on site registration will be allowed if space is available, however to ensure proper planning, on-site registration for each time block will end at the beginning of the prior time block. For example, on site registration for block #3 will end when block #2 begins.

Several people who have inquired about the program have asked the following:

Q- How many children will be accepted into the program in any one time block?
A- I will accept up to eight children if all the children are over the age of two. If one child registered is under two, then only five children will be accepted.

Q- Do I need to bring anything special for my child to the program?
A- For the daytime blocks you must provide your child with meals. You can either drop them off with the child or pick up your child and take them to eat. All other activities and snacks are provided. So just bring your Spooky Kids and their smiles!

Q- Where is the Spooky Kids program held?
A- HAuNTcon has a dedicated hotel suite in the host hotel reserved for The Spooky Kids program. We will provide you with the suite number when you register at the show.

Q- We will be out late Saturday night at the costume ball and up early for seminars on Sunday. Do you have an overnight block?
A- Overnight child care is available on a case by case basis. Please contact me directly for pricing if you would like to have me watch your kids overnight.
